Fashion Shows

Hair styling for the runways.

Fashion Week Spring 2010

Ok, so its taken  me 3 months to post some of the pictures for fashion week in NYC.  I hope you enjoy this hairdresser snap shot view.  I would like to take more pictures but I am working these shows. It can get tough to find a moment when I can stop and take pictures in the rush of doing hair for the shows.  These are pictures of the people that create these looks and the teams that make it happen, that I have been so grateful to be part of for the past 14 years.  Click on the picture to go to the Fashion Week Spring 2010 galleries.

What's up for 2009!

Redken Symposium kicked off January 2009, and we are fast tracking to NYC Fashion Week in February. Symposium was an awesome experience. As for Fashion Week, I will be there with my kit to do hair and with my camera to take pictures backstage.  I have been working in NYC during fashion week for 13 years and am glad to be there for another season.

Here in New York our latest designs are focused on disconnection, deep point cutting, cutting the perimeter last, and asymmetry with balance.  Lets take fashion for instance. We can have a dress that has a symmetric top with an asymmetric  hemline or just the other way around.  Lets think of a hair cut that has the same principles we can have asymmetry as long as it balances the head and body.  Designing clothes and hair have the same principles balance is key and knowing the fabric your working with.

Project Runway photos

I've just posted the Project Runway "behind the scenes" photos. Use this thread to let me know which are your favorites, and why.

Behind the scenes at Tuleh

Here's a quick "behind the scenes" look at the hair prep for the Tuleh show at Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2008 NYC Fashion Week.

Twinkle Images are posted

Ellen took some photographs backstage during the hair styling for the Twinkle show. Have a look at them here.

Abaete Fall 2008 Show

I was just at the Abaete Show today and what I saw was a silouette that is more form fitting than previous seasons.  It had a Joan of Arc flavor and nautical feel at the same time, sort of monied mercenary. I just loved the whole look.  The colors were greys and blacks beiges and the fabrics were rich and sleek. .
