My friend Nicole and I went shopping yesterday. We went to Woodbury Commons in New York State just off exit 17 on the thruway. We were on the hunt! We both love just going from store to store putting the things we might consider buying on hold with the sales people for a couple of hours. This gives us time to look for other fabulous finds and not to make snap decisions. Then, we’ll go have a cup of coffee and the debating begins. We discuss the pros and cons of everything we put on hold, and decide whether or not to return to claim our booty.
There are a load of stores in Woodbury Commons and we have our favs. We went to Tory Burch, Nicole bought this fabulous top and I bought a pair of her famous comfy flats in purple. Check them out:
Saks off Fifth I found a great Nanette Lapore dress for this summer, and Nicole found a great Coach bag that was originally $895.00 for under $300.
The thing is we don’t go into it thinking we will find anything. We just look and weigh all the possibilities. We found that there are some similarities from last season to some changes from last season, the biggest one is to find the shape of dress or top or pants that fit your body type. There are a lot of sack shaped dresses that, if your too short and don’t where heels, you look like a sack of potatoes. And there are the low-waist dresses that don’t flatter anyone under 17. The Audrey Hepburn dress is still in, and the accent color is purple. This is also a low time for new spring things as there are a lot of sparkly shiny fabrics on the racks left over from the holidays.
We were definitely looking for spring so we moved on to the Paramus Mall in New Jersey (on the way back home from Woodbury Commons in upstate NY). It was still a mixed bag old sparkly mixed in with a few spring things peeking through the racks. I did find a great jacket at Free People and a cute top. I think we need to wait until mid February to shop for spring-summer. I am leaving for Orlando on Friday for Redken’s Redken Artist Connection (RAC). I needed some transition pieces. I found some, and off I go.
Nicole and I will continue our shopping adventures and I will fill you in with more finds. Who knows, we may start a pod cast of our shopping adventures. And believe me, they truly are adventures. After all, even though we may look, we really don’t like all the stores. Only a select few. Sometimes it’s just as much fun dissing on all the horrid stuff as it is finding the gems. That’s why you should always shop with a friend. By the way I only found one dress at Bloomingdales in the NY City yesterday. Good for my pocket book.
Look for my updates on RAC. I will keep you posted on our daily activities..
