Tool Evaluation - The Velecta Paramount TGR 4000i blow dryer

The Velecta Paramount TGR 4000iIf you’re like me, you are probably always in the search for better tools. Occasionally, I get asked to test products and tools, and I love to pass my opinions on to my friends (as well as the marketing folks for the vendors.) Other times, I come across tools being used by my peers. In this case, Lya Navarra, who runs the gallery at the Redken Exchange, introduced me to a blow-dryer that I’ve been using for the past 3 years now, the Velecta Paramount TGR 4000i.

This dryer is the best of its class. It’s a small, compact dryer that fits in your travel kit beautifully, and it can really take some abuse. I need space in my kit for jobs and this is just great. It comes with two nozzles, a standard size and a larger one for more air flow, and has a diffuser that can be purchased separately. If you lose them, the phone number of the company is conveniently on the handle so you can order more. Of course, I find that the backs are the first things to go, I always need to get more backs. Its nice to know you can easily order these, too.

It has both a positive and a negative ion switch, fabulous for anti static. This is also great for those of you who need to compact that cuticle, making for a nice polished finish. I think it’s perfect. I turn off ionic button for fine hair so it doesn’t flatten the already flat cuticle.

The cord is nice and long, but my typical pet peeve with just about every blow-dryer I’ve ever used is the location of the buttons. I would love to see the buttons on the cord, when buttons are on the handle I find that I inadvertently hit them when I don’t want to. Unfortunately, the TRG 4000i is no different.

It delivers two speeds at optimum drying power, so it gets super hot for polished finishes and there is a cool button on the front of the handle to set in the shape of the section you are working on.

Want to know how much I like these? I personally own 3 of these dryers, one for work, one for home, and one spare. I can’t think about being without my Velecta Dryer; everything else pales in comparison.
